Ark. finishes 23rd in NCAA women's golf tourney

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) ? Emily Tubert shot an eight-over 296 to lead Arkansas to a 23rd place finish in the 2012 NCAA women's golf championship in Franklin, Tenn.

The Razorbacks shot rounds of 303-301-209 and 301 to end up 62 strokes over on Friday.

Alabama won its first women's golf title, holding off two-time champ Southern California by a stroke. Oklahoma's Chirapat Jao-Javanil won the individual title by four strokes, closing with a 2-under 70 to finish at 6-under 282.

Tubert shot 73-74-77- and 72 over the four-day event, and tied for 33rd place. Emma Lavy finished with a 303 after rounds of 75-77-78 and 73 and finished tied for 71st.

Arkansas made its fifth NCAA Championship appearance and its second in a row.

The Razorbacks finished a program-best tied for fifth last year.
