England v South Africa Rugby Betting Odds and Preview ? 09.06.12

England v South Africa Rugby betting, the first of England?s three test series has Stuart Lancaster?s men going as underdogs for the match at Kings Park in Durban on Saturday. This is the first big test for the new look England, after putting in much better performances at the Six nations earlier in the year, than fans have seen for a long time. There is a nice feel of a youth movement going on, and these will all be important steps towards the next World Cup, which is going to be held in the UK. So now England?s job is to progress even more, to take those steps forward and build upon what they achieved at the Six Nations, where their only defeat came against Wales. England are still working on that expansive game that everyone wants to see from then, but after being installed as permanent head coach, Stuart Lancaster has to find that balance between style and results of course, and getting a win out in South Africa is never going to be an easy task. This will be Lancaster?s first full test since being handed the role full time after dragging English rugby up by its heels so well for the Six Nations.

You have to go all the way back to 2000 to find the last win on South African soil for England, and stadiums in South Africa are always made intimidating by the home fans. England do have a couple of new caps to blood in the squad, namely Tom Johnson and Joe Marler, and they will be led again by Chris Robshaw. As for South Africa, this is the first time that they will have played together since their defeat in the quarter finals against Australia in the World Cup. The squad, now under the new guidance of Heyneke Meyer really haven?t had many days together training, so if England are going to cause an upset, then it will be by catching the Springboks cold in the first of the three tests. Like England, South Africa will have new caps on show, but there is still a vast amount of experience in the Springboks line-up, something that England can?t match at the moment. So it is a growing experience, a learning curve for Stuart Lancaster?s England, with three very tough tests to come. South Africa will be looking to dominate territory in the game and to crush England up front in the pack, whereas England may have better luck drawing the backs like Manu Tuilagi, Brad Barrit and Chris Ashton in the game more.
